Istanbul from Tbilisi — the nearest big city that is also a sea
Istanbul is the most common hop from Georgia: from TBS, and often from BUS. This is not a Wizz weekend in Central Europe. It is a short flight, the Bosphorus, and a city on two continents — and the first weekend disappears in the old town unless you decide in advance that you want Kadıköy.

How you fly
From Tbilisi (TBS) Turkish and other flights leave several times a day; from Batumi (BUS) the same direction is thinner but real. Check flights from Tbilisi and from Batumi separately — the cheap fare is often on one airport, not both.
Istanbul has two large airports. IST or SAW on the ticket decides whether you are in the city that evening or still on a transfer. We do not invent fares; the link below opens a search.
When
April–June and September–October are better for walking. July–August is hot and Sultanahmet is full. Winter is milder than Tbilisi’s bowl, wet rather than alpine.
Three days is enough for one shore. Both sides in one weekend means you see neither.
Which shore
The European side — Sultanahmet, Galata, Beyoğlu — is the first-visit map. The Asian side — Kadıköy, Moda — is for evening and food. The Bosphorus ferry is a crossing, not a separate attraction.
